DML moisturizing lotion is something I use in my daily routine and have recommended to others because of my positive results from it. The question is though, is it good or bad for others?

Product Analysis

DML moisturizing lotion has two ingredients that are regarded as harmful. It has a common ingredient across many moisturizing lotions called Benzyl Alcohol. It is an ingredient used in skin lotions due its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is quite common in moisturizing creams for Eczema.

Now here is the problem with Benzyl Alcohol. It has the safety hazard of being harmful in contact with skin. It also has potential health concerns for those with Dermatitis (Eczema). We should approach any products with Benzyl Alcohol with caution. It is an irritant, which can be linked to the burning sensation cases when applying the lotion.

The ingredient that should be noted is Cyclomethicone. It has many functions. Notably as an emollient that softens and soothes skin by preventing moisture loss from the skin. It is also a humectant, binding with water to increase skin hydration which can also enhance water absorption of the skin.

Despite the benefits of the ingredient, it should be worth noting it is a substance prohibited in cosmetic products in the European Union. It can cause skin irritation and toxic if inhaled. It is best to avoid the product based on the information given. It is not easy to come across this product.

Should I use DML Moisturizing Lotion?

My personal experience with the lotion has been nothing but positive. It has a thin consistency and hydrates my skin very well. However it should be noted of the two harmful ingredients. I would not recommend for severe cases of Eczema.

The product itself I have troubles finding in Hong Kong. It is available in some local pharmacists but not available in chain supermarkets and pharmacists.
